Kindergarten students at Val Vista Academy enjoy a special seating area placed on the playground, designed to foster inclusion, friendship, and kindness among their classmates.
The purpose of the "Buddy Bench" is simple: students feeling lonely can sit on the bench signaling to other children that they are looking for a buddy. In turn, children who see someone on the bench are encouraged to invite that child to join their game or activity, promoting kindness and empathy.
